Bipolar Disorder is a severe mental illness that causes shifts in mood swings by being overly excited or overly depressed, and can have suicidal thoughts. â€Å"All people with bipolar disorder have manic episodes- abnormally elevated or irritable moods that last a week and impair functioning.† (htpp://www.apa.org, 2015) Bipolar disorder is a long-term illness, can be controlled with prescription medication and psychotherapy sessions. Bipolar disorders are broken down into many parts including the various types of disorders, their symptoms, and treatments. There are various types of Bipolar disorders. Bipolar Disorder I. is the most basic type of bipolar disorders. In Bipolar Disorder I. the patient has ha at least one manic episode and it may have been followed by a hypomanic or major depressive episode .Mania Episodes are kind of minor compared to the rest. Mania episodes can cause various impairments in your life and may require a psychotic break to break from reality. Major depressive episodes are extremely dangerous, and they can also cause serious health problems.
